OpenStack Swift is object storage built for scale and optimized for durability, availability, and concurrency across the entire dataset. It’s perfect for storing user content. It’s built to offload the hard problems of storage from application developers. This overview of Swift will cover the design and implementation of the system, including data placement and failure handling. Come with your questions, and learn where Swift is used today and how you can use it, too.
About the speaker:
Director of Technology, SwiftStack
OpenStack Swift Project Technical Lead
Open Compute Storage Committee Chair
John joined SwiftStack as Director of Technology coming from Rackspace where he worked on Rackspace Cloud Files and OpenStack Swift, the large-scale distributed object storage system which SwiftStack is built on. As the Project Technical Lead (PTL) for OpenStack Swift, John is also leading much of its community development efforts.
